It’s been a while

Hello everyone… it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been idle.

All six of my originally planned books in The Apara Chronicles are now out and available on Amazon, and I’m currently planning the next three to four books in a new story arc.

Unfortunately, the past few years have been challenging. I’ve been dealing with ongoing health issues for over three years, including pain and anemia—which, if you’ve read my books, you may recognize the irony of. On top of that, my jewelry and stone-cutting studio was one of the many victims of Hurricane Helene in 2024.

Since then, I’ve been working nights at a hotel, which has at least given me time between shifts to continue writing, working on short stories, and finding ways to promote the series.

Now I’m starting to shift back into promotion mode and getting the books out in front of new readers. One of the most exciting things I’ve been working on for the last nine to ten weeks is a completely new project.

I’ve been teaching myself to use Sora2, OpenAI’s video generation tool, to create characters and scenes from my series. I realize AI is a controversial topic for some people, but it has allowed me to do something that would otherwise have been impossible: I’m creating a short-form drama series based on scenes from Hidden in Broad Daylight, the first book of the series. Episodes will begin dropping on my social media accounts shortly.

It turns out this process isn’t as simple as it might seem. Translating written scenes into something that works visually—while still preserving the humanity that makes a story compelling—takes time, experimentation, and a lot of editing.

Below is the premiere trailer for the short-form series. It also includes a small nod to a future RPG project being developed with my editor and mentor Nicky Rea, who comes from a TSR/White Wolf (World of Darkness) background.
